Ancestor Square – The Art and Soul of St. George since the 1860s

Ancestor Square is the compilation of 12 separate buildings, six of which have historic registry designations. These historic buildings include Sheriff Hardy’s house (1877), the Sheriff’s Office (Sandstone Bldg.), the original jailhouse, and one of the oldest buildings in St. George – the historic Gardeners Club building.

Ancestor Square is located at the northwest corner of St. George Boulevard and Main Street in the middle of St. George’s Historic District and Financial Center.

Description: The Downtown Farmers Market at Ancestor Square is a free event held every Saturday starting the second Saturday in May through the end of October.

The Market features a variety of vendors from all over Washington and Iron County, selling seasonal produce and items such as:
-Fruits and vegetables
-Free-range beef, pork, and lamb
-Free-range organic eggs
-Local honey
-Live plants
-Soaps & lotions
-Pastries and more

In addition to more than twenty-five vendors selling their goods, the market also features local musicians from 9:30 am-noon. The market is open for the public to enjoy the music and the beautiful Southern Utah mornings. This is a great place to do your weekly produce shopping, browse for gifts and artwork, enjoy breakfast and experience local Southern Utah music.
